Fire department extricates patient; Transported to local trauma center

HALFWAY, Maryland – Units from Williamsport Volunteer Fire and EMS Inc., Halfway Volunteer Fire Company and Washington County Division Of Emergency Services were dispatched to the intersection of Halfway Blvd and Blake Road for a reported MVC at approximately 2:40 p.m., according to Halfway Volunteer Fire Department Chief Ed Ernst.

The T-Bone style accident produced significant compartment intrusion in the drivers side, causing the driver to be pinned in the vehicle, Ernst said.

The patient was transported to Meritus Health as a priority 2, category bravo trauma under the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS)trauma decision tree, added Ernst.

No other injuries were reported from the incident.
